Before the Christmas period that has just passed the Royal Mail online postage calculator was down. It is reported that the ‘The Price Finder’ page had been down since the 21 November, no change was stated until the end of December.
The malfunction on the site had led to some of the loyal customers being charged double for the service, leaving some wondering why they had paid so much. While the service provider apologised this did not seem enough for some customers that use this method of posting each day. This steered some companies to look into purchasing or renting a Franking Machine to be able to manage their increased mail over the Christmas period. Others decided to post the traditional way for the time being, although daily postal runs took valuable time out of the day.
With the website back in working order it is a relief for many. But for others that have chosen to frank their mail, I’m sure they are relieved to know any future problems will not have an effect on their trade.
